New "Year Zero" Video: might be NSFW, so it's worth staying home to watch it

Dear fellow Ghost devotees,

ever been curious to know what lies beneath those robes? Well, now we have been given the chance to (literally) take a glimpse at some hidden sides of Ghost in the new official video for "Year Zero"! The clip is premiered on Stereogum and it is, at the moment, available only in North America, while other countries will be able to view it in about three hours (march 26th, 8:00 a.m. CET). Watch it as soon as you can, because it contains lots of...let's say, pleasantly unexpected surprises, for any gender.

The director, Amir Chamdin, is the same of the "Secular Haze" video, and once again we think he has done an excellent work that fits perfectly with the song.  And we especially liked the red that sorrounds Papa Emeritus II and the Nameless Ghouls in the ending part,  possibly the best color choice that could have been made for this purpose, it really permeates the screen with a lustful feeling.

So, when you feel ready for the descent into the malicious realm of Ghost, here is "Year Zero":

    1. Is it still blocked in your country? It should be available everywhere, now...

  2. Not sure how I feel about being flashed by Papa Emeritus. Although the whole video is definitely 10/10

    1. That was totally unexpected, and we appreciated so much how they kept the whole thing very "à la Ghost", funny and irreverent ;)

  3. I have watched the video numerous time already and think it's amazing. I love the song, the look and vibe of the video and totally agree, I love how it's so irreverent! Papa rules! :)

  4. So, what do you all think about the video storyline? We liked the idea of Papa Emeritus in "informal clothes" recruiting the women (witches? Yes please ;)) to be his Nameless Ghouls. And what about the child, is He the Anti-christ? Or just an onlooker? Is he trying to symbolically grasp the concept of divinity when he reaches out his hand towards the sky/window? That's the feeling we got from that scene...

    1. I think it's cool that we see each of the women reflected in the mirrors multiple times, but we never see Papa's reflection once. Considering how much wall space the mirrors take up and the numerous angles we see the room from while he's there, this had to have been intentional and carefully planned out.

    2. I think he can be seen in the mirror at about 1:47 , before he sits down!

    3. I can see the tiniest fleeting reflection of his glove [just to the left of the reflection of the back of the girl's head after she sits down] just as he begins to let go of her hand, but that's it. Around the 1:32 mark, as he's approaching to greet the first woman, I can also just barely make out a dark shape with a tiny lighter bit (his face) gliding, but it's extremely faint and blurred. But in that same shot, I can see each of the five women reflected enough to tell which is which (or which witch is which, heh). Not that it has any special significance or meaning, or if it does, I don't know what it is.

    4. You are right we think it is most likely done on purpose...maybe because he is (un)dead and they are alive, we guess?

  5. I love the video. Great film quality. Rosemary's Baby vibe.

    I only have one complaint...

For those who may want to pause a video, for whatever reason, not for anything specific, could they give us more than a fraction of a second to zero in on? You know, just in case any of us WANT to. I'm not saying I did, and I'm not saying that I may or may not have zoomed in — I'm merely making a suggestion strictly for hypothetical reasons. Honest.

    1. Oh, we definitely hear what you are saying. But you know, we guess they can not let us grasp the ungraspable...and therefore had to keep it ephemeral...
      ;)
"Blessed are those who wash their robes. They will be permitted to enter through the gates of the city and eat the fruit from the tree of life."
(Revelation 22:14 , but also the Witches of the Coven commenting on "Year Zero" video...)

    2. Well, they should let us grasp the ungraspable, dammit. They really, really should.
