"Infestissumam" among the best vinyl releases of 2013 on Noisecreep

Music webzine Noisecreep chose "Infestissumam" as one of the best vinyl releases of 2013:  that is indeed very true, considering the amazing music it carries and the stunning artwork it features, and here in the Coven we raise our ritual chalices to this wise choice by the Noisecreep staff.
Among the others included in the list, we find "The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here" by Alice In Chains, "13" by Black Sabbath, "Meir" by Kvelertak, "Furiosity" by Monster Truck, "New American Gospel" Lamb of God  (repressed this year for the Record Store Day), "Dead City Radio" by Rob Zombie, "...Like Clockwork" by Queens of the Stone Age and "King Animal Demos" by Soundgarden.
Move your astral body to the Noisecreep website to read the whole list with comments. And on the room of the Coven dedicated to "Infestissumam" you can read everything about the album: different versions, release dates, reviews.

We handpicked some of our favorite plays of light captured during Ghost's rituals. Or shall we say it is "rather darkness visible"?

Ghost at the Rockbjörnen Awards - Alea iacta est

Dear fellow Ghost devotees,

as many of you probably know very well, this has a been a summer of true devotion!, like the loyal congregation that we all are in fact, we have been praising daily our Papa Emeritus II and His Nameless Ghouls with our votes for them at the Rockbjörnen Awards since June, when it was time to send our support to get them nominated, then at the beginning of this month it was time to vote for them in the selected categories in order to make them actually win the awards as best live band of the year and best hard rock/metal band of the year. Now, the voting session has just been closed on August 19th so the die is cast, hopefully all of us have showed enough appreciation to get them where they deserve to be: in the place of glorious winners, without any doubt, because their brilliance and talent are undeniable! Ghost have thanked all their fans and informed that results will be known on August 28th, 2013 when a ceremony will be held to announce the winners. Until then, we can only wait, crossing fingers (or better in our case inverting crosses) and keeping every day unholy with Ghost's divine music.

The Rockbjörnen Awards ceremony will be held at Gröna Lund in Stockholm on August 28th, 2013 at 20:00 CEST.

Interview from May on Exclaim! Magazine

Dear fellow Ghost devotees,

an interview conducted back in May during the first part of Ghost's U.S. tour has been published today on Exclaim! Magazine, it does not include anything really new, but it can be an interesting recap of some of the main topics about Ghost: how they pictured their concept, trying to re-create the feeling of listening to a classic horror rock band from the 70s; how fast they gained a certain success right away after they started as a band and how their previous label was crucial in their early steps and how their music has a great potential with or without the imagery side. Speaking of the response from the audience the Nameless Ghoul explained they had a better idea of what it has been like in the U.S., due to the fact Ghost had played very often there but not in Europe (at that time they hadn't played any headlining show in Europe yet), he also talked about the ups and downs of maintaining anonymity and their plans to become bigger. Let us enjoy together the complete video of the interview below:

"Monstrance Clock" and the evolution of a dialogue

Dear fellow Ghost devotees,

this time in the Coven we would like to take a minute to analyze the constant evolution Papa Emeritus II's comment to the live version of "Monstrance Clock" has gone through since the song made its first appearance in the setlist, during the Jägermeister tour in the U.K. back in March .
We all probably remember the words of a Nameless Ghoul when he explained that "It's the same thing with a four-year-old. It starts off with one applause, then that child asks for more. He'll say more obnoxious things because it makes people laugh or clap. It all ends with claps." (Pure Volume, April '13).
 Apparently this is what happened also to the "Monstrance Clock" comment: initially it all started as a simple and brief exhortation to get the crowd singing along to the "Come Together, Together As One..." verse:

Ghost Interview on FUSE {...and the "Spot the Grohl Ghoul" game has begun}

Dear fellow Ghost devotees,

finally the video of the recent interview conducted at Lollapalooza with a Nameless Ghoul on FUSE has
been uploaded online and, as our fellow devotee Lascivious kindly and promptly reported when the interview was aired the other day, we get to hear a revelation that surprised most of us: apparently, there has been an occasion where Dave Grohl has actually performed with Ghost "behind the mask"! But what show was that? The Nameless Ghoul said he can not tell. Ah! We get it, they want us to find the differences and play the "Spot the Grohl Ghoul" game, right? ;) Well, in the past days many of us devotees have been re-watching live footage like crazy to find out any possible hint about this. We know Dave Grohl was spotted among the crowd at the ritual at El Rey Theater back in April this year, but could that possibly be the time he also performed? Well, so far, we have no answers but we are very committed to find out! We all know very well Dave Grohl and our Ghoul drummer are quite different in so many major and minor details, so if some decent live footage of that moment exists, it should not be very difficult for a loyal Ghost devotee to notice some clues...   Other topics covered in this interview are, as usual, how the band handle their anonymity, especially while touring, and if after the "Year Zero" video, more nudity will be shown in music clip. Below the complete interview, enjoy! And feel free to join us in the search for the Grohl Ghoul, we wait for you on the message boards for more speculations about this together ;)

A little update for the game: As suggested on our message boards by our fellow devotee Papa Leightonius, we might have taken for granted too soon that Dave performed on drums, because actually the Nameless Ghoul did not mention what instrument he played, so not necessarily he has performed on drums...and the mystery thickens even more.

Ghost at Double Door, Chicago (IL) 03/08/2013

Dear fellow Ghost devotees,

with this intimate ritual, which we can guess has really been an amazing experience for everyone who was there, our Papa and the Nameless Ghouls have concluded the second part of their U.S. tour and after stoically defying the summer heat in their black robes and nonetheless delivering every time great performances, we hope they will have time to enjoy some rest in their cloister and we are sure the Dark Lord will be very pleased with the impeccable service they have once again provided! In the meanwhile we can enjoy some videos from the ritual in Chicago:

"Stand By Him" {we just experienced body possession by the guitars watching this one...}
